USING FOUNTAIN PENS

Fountain pen writing is a unique experience. Vintage pens use liquid ink and split metal fountain pen tips or Nibs. The ink is stored internally in antique pens either in a rubber ink sack, ink converter or in later collectible pen models, a plastic ink cartridge. The liquid ink flows through a grooved section to the fountain pen nib. The free flowing ink results in a smooth writing experience that cannot be duplicated with ball point pens or pencils.

Start or add to your vintage pen collection with this beautiful Antique Packard Fountain Pen. An inexpensive antique fountain pen and popular collectors pens. Fountain pen collecting is a great hobby rich in history. Old Fountain pens make great investments and interesting collectibles. Writing with a fountain pen, antique or modern, is a unique experience that most people have not shared.Over 60 years old, this wonderful antique Packard fountain pen mechanical pencil combination looks and writes great. Treat yourself to this lovely collectible antique pen. A nice addition to any collection. Great writing pen or wonderful display item.

HISTORY- Packard pens were concidered a cheap fountain pen brand producing lever-filling pens in the 1930s and early 1940s. Packard pens had untipped steel nibs (imprinted DURIUM or DURIUM TIPPED) and were not designed to be repaired. It is not unlikely that this name was chosen to suggest a relationship with Packard automobiles; the prospective purchaser might infer therefrom that the pens were of high quality, as were the cars. Although these were considered cheap fountain pens in the 1930s the fountain pictured is over 70 years old and still works great.
